Cedric Brown

Cedric is a 2019 Atlantic Fellow for Racial Equity. He has an extensive history of involvement in the arts, from performance to literary to visual. Most recently he conceived and co-produced The Shape of Blackness, a virtual group exhibition featuring artists from South Africa and the United States. Cedric served for two years as a trustee of the Oakland Museum of California and was a multi-year exhibitor in the annual Art of the African Diaspora at the Richmond Art Center. He has published three books and is the founder of the Jacobs/Jones African American Literary Prize, now a program of the North Carolina Writers Network, as well as the Randall Kenan Prize for Black LGBTQ Fiction, awarded by Lambda Literary foundation.
