Nabeel Essa

Nabeel is a Johannesburg-based practicing architect whose work blurs the boundaries between architecture, art, heritage, and cultural production. He is the founder of Office 24/7 Architecture, an award-winning, research-based design practice whose work includes serving as exhibition designer for the South African Pavilion at the 2024 Venice Art Biennalle. 

Nabeel is also a sessional lecturer at the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in Johannesburg. He is experienced in developing and teaching postgraduate design studios. He also has extensive experience as juror, examiner, critic, and speaker across South African architecture schools. He holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Wits and a master’s in landscape urbanism from the Architectural Association School of Architecture in the United Kingdom.
